What does it mean when prescription acne cream says not to go in sun?

Well I mean you can go in the sun, but it mentions overexposure or too much exposure in the sun. I'm just curious why does it affect it? I'll probably be going away down south to the carribean in the spring or summer, and I always always burn. I'm fair skinned and my parents burn too, no matter how much sunscreen I wear. I'm just curious as to what would happen/why they mention that? What does it mean when prescription acne cream says not to go in sun?
This means that this product does not repel the sun, it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun. If you do go out into the sun you should be fine if you use a higher SPF. I also use acne perscription and it says the same i usually use the neutrogena SPF 45 or higher sunscreen. What does it mean when prescription acne cream says not to go in sun?
The sun can dry out your skin and be harmful to it. The acne medication, especially if it's prescription is probably very strong and if there is something else that you add to it, then it would mess it up and your skin would peel or get irratated. So in this case, think of the sun as a seperate acne product (it won't really help your skin though) and the seperate acne product would mess with the other medication your using making it unefficent. The sun also damages your skin a lot, and if your using acne product you're probablly trying to make your skin look better, so on the bottles they add in that the sun wouldn't be a good idea even though it would be harmful with out with out the medicine.

Don't worry about getting some reaction when you go to the carribean, just use a sunscreen (Wexler has a acne medication that has a SPF 30 so if you wear it, it won't make you break out), and remember to reapply and have fun [:
the cream causes the suns rays to get stuck between your skin and the cream itself, like a little atmosphere. Imagine getting a concentrated sunburn from a microscope. Thats a risk of overexposure to sun with face creams, doesnt happen to everyone but sometimes it bad,.
This is because the acne medication causes layers of skin to come off and new skin to grow. This can make you more susceptible to skin cancer. If you do go into the sun, no matter how funny you may think it looks you need to wear a hat that will protect your face from the sun's rays.
Some meds just make your skin more sensitive to the sun, even in the winter... it's a side effect that they need to make you aware of. You just need to be extra careful... if you burn easily, it's going to be even worse while you're on it. Maybe you shouldn't use it while you're on vacation...?

Acne creams do not make skin layers come off... thats not why you burn... even the oral acne meds (along with many other kinds of meds) make your skin more sensitive to the sun. It's not because you can't wear sun screen, or because the cream will burn your skin...
They mention it because the cream makes your skin ultra-sensitive and you're going to be much more prone to rashes and burns and it can even hinder the potential that the cream has to work.
Acne medicine for severe acne can make exposure to sun worse, idk if its bc you cant use sunscreen, or it just makes your face more sensitive, one or both of those reasons is why...youll probably get really really burned and the acne medicine might burn alot
It means that your skin is probably really sensitive, besides, being in the sun is really bad for your skin. And your meditcation might make your face burn a little bit when being over-exposed.
It can increase the risk of sunburn and the peeling of the skin. In worst cases causes a reaction by heating up the skin making it more burnt and a rash that feels like the chicken pox.
Usually acne cream says to keep out of the sun or wear sun screen because the medicine will dry out your face making you more vulnerable to sun burns than usual.
because the cream makes your skin even more delicate to the sun as the cream gets rid of the acne by sort of burning it off.You may want to consider an alternative
It has a drying agent in them for one and it will cause your face to burn.
It means your chances of burning in the sun are increased. Don't do it, you will be sorry.
it would dry the cream out
