Why do we need a prescription for acne medicine?

i see all the time on tv,, the strongest acne medicine you can buy without a prescription,, what the hell is up with that,, the doctors wont know if the one they prescribe to you will hurt your skin,just like they wont know if otc will hurt your skin,, and the funny thing is i remember 25 years ago you could only get motrin with a prescription,,now look you can but it at 7 11Why do we need a prescription for acne medicine?

Thank God Motrin can be bought over the counter. I live off the stuff!! Works for any pain.





As for your question, it's because so many of the meds are very strong and have multiple side effects so the have to have a prescription for them. But, remember that does not mean they will work any better than an over the counter wash etc. There's lots of good ones on the market. You just need to find the one that works best for you.
