I have been prescribed: Tretinoin Cream USP 0.05%, and Clindamycin 1% Gel 30 GM, for acne. Both of these eliminate acne almost perfectly for me, the only problem is they dry my skin out to the poin where it stings, and peels. I have tried Aveeno Active Naturals-Daily Moisturizing Lotion for my dry skin problems, but it has not worked. Usually it works that i put the prescribed acne products on for one day or a few hours at a time, and then my skin will peel for about 4 days, even with lotion on 24/7. Any suggestions on how to follow the directions on the prescriptions ';Apply to Face Once Daily';, and not have to worry about horribly dry skin?Dry skin due to prescription acne cream?
You can try other lotions, but make sure they say on the container that they won't clog pores or that they're noncomedogenic (which means the same thing).
If lotion still doesn't work for you after a week or two, tell your dermatologist what's happening. It could be that the strength of the active ingredients in the cream and gel you're putting on your face are too strong, so your derm. can possibly give you a lower-strength prescription or try something milder.Dry skin due to prescription acne cream?
