In general, insurance does cover acne medications. You should contact Medco to determine what they do cover on your policy. Will insurance cover prescription acne medication?
I don't know about your insurance I con only tell you my experience.
Our insurance (it is a small health insurance company not a big name) covers both the oral medication and the creams.
Let your daughter know that the mediations make it worse for awhile. It takes about 3 months to get the full effect of the medicine working on a daily basis.
Good Luck!
It depends what type of medication. I am 18 and had my face perfectly clear arounbd nov. and all of a sudden in feb. I just broke out. And it wasnt little break outs they were cystic breakouts. I went to the doctor and I was prescribed some pills and cream, but didnt really work. But the insurance does cover it if what is being prescribed is by a doctor...Now I have gotten laser treamtents but that didnt quite work because cystic acne doesnt go away with lasers but with something called ALA. All laser treatments and ALA treatments are not covered by the insurance. All that comes out of your pocket. I know my mom has spent over 3,000 dollars on my ALA treatments and is probably goin to have to spend another 3,000 for the scars. If you would like more information about this you can contact me by email. It is

I check it regularly so I will definetley reply back.
Hope this was helpful to some extent
