and it worked great and all....but now i dont have anymore of it and 3 days after i stoped taking it my acne is back!!!!! DOES THIS MEAN IM GONNA have to keep taking the pill forrr a looooooooongggg time and what if my doc dosent want to give it to me any more.. wahhh :( my face is horribleeee red lookingI been Using the Doryx prescription for acne 100mg for 2 months now and..?
interesting... any reputable doctor would have told you to change your diet and hydrate properly instead of choking you down with drugs that run out.

next time.. eat fresh fruits and veggies.. cut out the dairy (if you didn't realize... dairy is an attractant to acne and other issues.) cut back on meat consumption and make sure it's fresh instead of processed, cut out snacks... all processed foods should be eliminated.

and hydrate with fresh fruit juices, get a juicer.. juice them veggies (no, V8 juice is jammed with chemicals and salt) and drink water and learn to sweat and take steam baths.I been Using the Doryx prescription for acne 100mg for 2 months now and..?
Well go back to the doc and get another prescription.

When controlled, you may even cut back to once a day. These meds do work and can be inexpensive (cheap) in generic form. Don't believe all the hype about vegetables. Veggies are helpful and healthful, but are no substitute for medical care that works.

Does mederma really work for acne scars? do you need a prescription for it?

Mederma is as effective as vitamin E capsules but quite a bit more expensive. Neither of these require a prescription but if you have excessive scarring you may still want to see a dermatologist.Does mederma really work for acne scars? do you need a prescription for it?
You don't need a prescription for it. I don't think it works very well. I tried it. What finally worked for me was Neutrogena's product for acne scars in thier advanced skin care line.

Quality product.Does mederma really work for acne scars? do you need a prescription for it?
its over the counter so no script is needed

it might help your scars but a dermatologist would be able to answer that much better.

There are so many new treatments out there now thats who I would recomend you to see mederma is more for fresh scars. there are lasers and peels for your problem.

I bought Neutrogena advanced solutions(at home micro Dermabrasion system for face(shh I also use it for other parts of the body too). I bought it at walmart. Keep the box and recipe if it doesn't work for you or if your skin reacts to it I believe 30 days.

It is about $30.00. I use it and I use it for my husband too. It enhances surface cell turnover for visibly fresher , smoother , baby soft skin.

There are many prescription products that treat acne, both topically and orally. The main 2 goals of all are to:1.open up blocked pores (Retin-A, Differin, Tazorac creams) and 2. kill bacteria (mainly one called P. acnes) that causes inflammatory bumps to develop (doxycycline, tetracycyline, minocycyline, erythromycin pills). One additional medication not only open pores, but also controls oil production (Accutane), but can have more side effect concerns than the others. Sometimes you can use topical antibiotics instead of pills if your acne is not too severe (such as benzoyl peroxide with or without topical antibiotics such as clindamycin or erythromycin added to it). In general, it is now felt using pore-opening medications such as Retin-A, etc. help all types of acne. Of all these I've mentioned, plain benzoyl peroxide is over the counter, but all the rest require prescriptions.
As someone who suffers from spots myself, I would never take any prescriptions.

There are other ways that work so much better and don't harm your body.

Like using a tea tree cleanser and an oat exfoliater.

Also try putting on some oils before going to bed such as, 40ml jojoba oil, 15 drops lavendar oil, 15 drops tea tree oil and 8 drops palmarosa. It works! People I haven't seen for a while keep complimenting on how good my complexion is getting.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

    1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

    2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn鈥檛 use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured鈥f we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don鈥檛 want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

    Prescription Proactive/Acne Free???

I am currently taking Acne Free, which is the same as Proactive, and it's working pretty well but I would rather find a prescription version so I don't have to pay $20 a month for it. Does anyone know of any prescription versions that work the same or have the same ingredients??Prescription Proactive/Acne Free???
continue to use what works..Prescription Proactive/Acne Free???
You can get a benzoyl peroxide prescription. It is similar to what you are using. It will bleach fabrics and can make you skin a little dry. With my families insurance it was usually $10. Or you can use oral antibiotics- I also did this. Report Abuse

I have really bad acne. I've used both over the counter creams and prescription cream and neither worked...?

Attack of the killer acne? I was thinking about using Proactiv but the fact that it's advertised with infomercials turns me off. I mean, does it actually do anything? Any other suggestions?

Also, I have way too many pimples to dry them out with something like toothpaste. I'd have to smear toothpaste all over my face... :)I have really bad acne. I've used both over the counter creams and prescription cream and neither worked...?
First off, make sure you're drinking a lot of water daily.

Secondly, start drinking green tea. I used to have constant pimples all over and when I started drinking green tea (2 cups a day normally), they went away.

If doing neither of those works you could see your doctor. They might have something you can try.

After those, if they don't work, try ProActiv, I have heard nothing but good things about it.I have really bad acne. I've used both over the counter creams and prescription cream and neither worked...?
ok. i had the exact same thing...I use Velocity by Mary kay, and i also use The Blemish control toner by mary kay. It worked AWESOME On my face!! =D

proactive works really well but it makes ur face be addicted to it and if you ever run out or decide to stop using it your face will end up looking like a giant pimple not a good image

    i would try soething else
I used to use Proactiv and it worked really well for me by using the set all together, BUT it can get really expensive. So now I use AcneFree, its the same idea (the cleanser+toner+moisturizer) and it works as good or better for me than Proactiv AND its only like $20.... they have the set at like Walmart, or KMart or like Target and stuff, or even some grocery stores.

Birth control pills also really help, especially if your worst acne is like on your period or right before. If you take these and the Acnefree together, your face should clear right up! :)

Can i go to the doctors for acne prescriptions?

can i just go to the walk in clinic to get prescriptions for my acne since its closer in distance and dermatologists are so far away??

Can i go to the doctors for acne prescriptions?
yes you can, my friend did it beforeCan i go to the doctors for acne prescriptions?
Yes, I think you can do that. People make all kinds of suggestions about the best thing to do to cure acne. Some cures I’ve heard include putting oatmeal, honey, lemon juice, tea tree oil, cucumber, vinegar, milk of magnesia or toothpaste on your face. Practically every cosmetics company and company that makes personal care products makes something that is a “sure cure” for acne. If we think about this, and use some common sense, we have to come to the conclusion that there is no quick or easy cure for acne, because if there was it would be well known and doctors would be telling everyone about it.

Numerous companies make a lot of money persuading people to buy products that at worst will make the acne worse, and at best may help some people a little. Often fewer products are better. People often make their acne much worse by using too many products. There really is no quick fix for acne. Don’t spend a lot of money on products just because their ads say that they will cure acne. Your doctor is the best person to ask for help, and he or she may recommend some prescription medication or non-prescription treatment that may be suitable for you..

There are some very simple and basic things you can do that cost nothing. Keep your face or any other area affected by acne very clean. Any mild antibacterial soap will help with that. Rinse the area well to remove all soap residue. Drink plenty of water – it really does help to clear up acne. Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep. A healthy life style will make a difference. Try to reduce the stress in your life – stress contributes to acne, so also probably the more you worry about the acne and focus on it, the worse it will be.

Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.

There are lots of prescriptions out there, the best thing to do is go to your dermatologist. Some topicals do not work on some people like me. I tried every type of topical and nothing worked! Until I went to the 3rd dermatologist and he prescribed doxycycline a typical antibiotic and it got rid of my horrible 6 year stent with acne in 1 week!

You don't cure it, you treat it.

My daughter had bad acne and tried a lot of things, including dermatologists.

What helped her the most ultimately, was cleaning her face everyday with olive oil or coconut oil. This may sound odd, since acne is associated with oily skin, but it cleared her skin wonderfully. I wish I had known about it!How do you cure acne w/o prescriptions, antibiotics, dermatologist?

yes, i used to use duac last year when i was 13 and it really works! for me, it took half a month and then the my acne was gone. but remember to keep it refrigerated or else it will expire after 2 months because you can still use it for 2 years if you keep it refrigerated.

Acne can be embarrassing at the best of times. I would try going into a site called Epinions.com and find out what users are saying about various products. Good hygene which involves regular bathing helps a lot. Good internal health is a major contributor to healthy skin. Consider going to see a wholistic health professional, they have some great supplements. Try and stay away from the junk foods. I鈥檝e also had good luck with a product called Acnezine. Below are a couple of articles I found you might find helpful. All the best!
hey bud, you need to go to http://www.theacneanswers.com and get your parents to buy you one of their cheap programs that rid your acne. When I was 18 I went on one of their programs and lost 70% of my acne in less than a week. I dunno, give it a shot. Also, I've heard something about rubbing honey and something else on each pimple before sleep, look it up. Again, http://www.theacneanswers.com if you want to get it all cleared up, for good. It will always come back unless you target it now
Clearasil worked for me-wash your face and put it on at night in the areas that are prone to oiliness and pimples.

Try something that has benzoyl peroxide in it, or neutrogena on-the-spot acne treatment. that shld be easy to get, and it worked for me. if nothing works, see a dermatologist, that's a skin doctor. goodluck.
There is Erytromycine and zinc, a solution you put on the top for mild acne, it's very good.

There's doxycyline, a capsule based antibiotic.

Lastly there Ro-Accutan, which has a 98% success rate, but be warned, it's almost toxic, and will leave you feeling sick, so only use it for severe Acne.

Also if you're a girl ask you're doctor about different types of contraceptive pills. Some make things better, other make no difference, just keep trying.

And dont listen to people who say, dont use drugs, I can promise you they never had chronic acne, if they think it's something that some face wash and a smile will cure.

Always talk these things over with you're GP/Dermatologist,

    and Good Luck.
As long as your acne is only light to moderate, you can use home acne remedies, everything that you need can be bought from a grocery store.

    Natural oatmeal.

    home made acne solution.

Read http://theaones.com/blog/?p=107... for a full explanation how to treat acne at home
your g.p would be the most likely candidate for this answer
    ask doctor
I am on that at the momment - it takes at least 3 months for it to kick into your system, My doctor told me to see results after about 3 months.

Its just a waiting game hun.
That sounds hairy! Assuming you've already been to chat about it with your doc you could either go again and say it's not working for you or maybe try NHS Direct (In everyone's phone book) for advice. Pharmacists are founts of knowledge as are homoeopaths. It's worth assessing your diet and stress levels. It will get resolved - hope it's soon.
If your acne is moderate to severe, it is possible to use an alternative antibiotic like erythromycin, if that fails after a reasonable period accordingto guidaelines yur GP uses, he can refer you to a specialist for Roaccutane - but as it can damage the foetus you will need to be taking contraceptives assuming youre a woman.
if it's bad you can try accutane (roaccutane in europe) but it's a bit dangerous so definitely only use as a last resort.
go to your doctors and ask for 'ZINDACLIN or STIEMYCIN, both are very good one a cream and one is a rollerball, you can only get them on perscription,
The Obaji system used with retin a and the antibiotic doxyclycin-I promise after a few months your skin will be flawless. I was shocked!
Talk to your doctor he is the only one that can help, or if you want to try the Chinese herbalists they are good. I know that for a fact, for simple illness i use them rather than clog up the NHS
try a natural way not chemical stuff, my friend used Herbal products like cremes and face mask and got rid off it completely.
Go to acne.org and you will be clear....promise. Read his clear skin regimin and find the answer to acne just like I did, and my teenaged brother.

There are various things you can get for acne on prescription. Its just a matter of finding something that works for you. There are antibiotics such as tetracycline that will fight acne, but your body can become immune to antibiotics and it is rarely a long term solution. There are creams and lotions you can use which will attack the acne from the outside, but again, it is a matter of finding one that suits your skin type.

A month and a half is not that long, even though I bet it feels like forever. Tetracycline will take at least 3 months to even start showing any kind of improvement. Give it a bit more time.

As a long time acne sufferer, I will suggest something that became a miracle for me. B5. Its a vitamin, and it has cleared up my moderate/severe acne like nothing ever has before. If you go to www.b5clearskin.com, you can read more about it. Basically, all you do is megadose on B5 which is completely harmless. After around 3 to 4 months you should start seeing an improvement.

It is a bit more costly than prescription medicines, but it depends on how much you are willing to pay for clear skin. I was willing to pay anything!

Good luck, I hope you find something to clear you up. I know if you use B5 you won't be disappointed!

try bio oil, its about 拢9 a bottle, but its fantastic, it also helps with anti aging and is said to get rid of old scars and stretch marks.

    xxxxxxxxx
Depends on if your male or female if female u can be prescribed a type of contraceptive pill called Dianette which works and you wont have to pay for the prescription with it being a contraceptive. The first thing you will be prescribed is Doxycycline which is an antibiotic if this does not work after 6 months then they will prscribe the above.
    Try a guillotine!...spotty!
i was on tetrocyclin (a pill) for a while. then switched to taking birth control (orth tricyclin), which worked even better.
There are several different anti-biotics that can be used for the treatment of acne. As well as tablets you can also get topical creams. The creams, however, should only be used for a short period of time.

Ask your doctor for a different medication if this is not working!
honey mixed with few drops of lemon, aplly it over face, keep it on for 15min evry night, you'l notice a difference in one week. trust me it works,,,tried it myself and now totaly flawless with a glowing skin tone!

There is this new popular cream that people have been talking about.

It was even televised on TV.

It prevents future and existing acne, diminishes scars, and lightens skin and blemishes. Fast results too! (It's been claimed that major results can be seen within a week and no later than two weeks)

Before and After photos are available at the given ebay site.

This person is providing 1-3 week trial samples (Only for ONE DOLLAR.. definitely a deal) on ebay at:

Search up ';Cee En's Acne Solution'; or ';best acne solution ever'; on ebay.

First 100 customers can get the item for $1 for one week trial and up to 3 weeks. Or you can purchase 1 month supply for $40 or 6 month supply for $160

It's expensive, but the product DOES work.

My sister and cousin who both have major acne have tried the product and they both give it thumbs up. I have also heard many great feedbacks about this cream.

I don't have a problem with acne, but it seems to have great results on my sister who has moderate to severe acne. Her acne swelling went away overnight.

    I hope this helps. =)
well like any scars , its all about healing like with aloe vera or pro-active or vitamen e ,

My acne prescriptions have been expired for over a year, would they still be alright to use?

I have Tazorac cream, Erythromycin topical gel, and Erythromycin %26amp; Peroxide Topical Gel. I've kept them all stored properly, including keeping the Erythromycin %26amp; Peroxide Topical Gel refrigerated.

What harm would come from continuing the use of them?My acne prescriptions have been expired for over a year, would they still be alright to use?
Using the expired medicine will not harm you. However, the medicine may not be as effective. Typically, when medicines expire, they get weaker.

Hope this helps. Good Luck. My acne prescriptions have been expired for over a year, would they still be alright to use?
Don't use medications that are past the expiration date. At best, they will simply be useless as the active ingredients have degraded. But some antibiotics can produce toxic substances as they break down, and creams/gels can grow bacteria (even if they are refrigerated). Throw them out and see your doctor for new ones.

    Acne pills without prescription?

Where can you buy acne pills from chemists WITHOUT prescription? i'm from the Uk, and i can only find them on the internet (and i don't want to order it from the US because of shipping charges)

does anybody know?Acne pills without prescription?
No. If you go and see your Doctor, he will also be able to assess which medication is appropriate for you. Your best bet, is a two pronged attack with a tetracycline antibiotic (either minnocycline or lemmecycline) used in conjunction with a topical benzoyl peroxide 2% gel. Other options are the contraceptive pill, in particular Yasmin.Acne pills without prescription?
2 of my grandsons are on acne pills. We tried to get them without prescription but could not. We ended up going to the local quack and was no problem and very good results so far.
What is wroing with aseeing your doctor about your acne? The medications would then be safe and appropriate.

Should i still use acne scrub in the shower even when i am on a prescription???

I forgot to ask the dermatologistShould i still use acne scrub in the shower even when i am on a prescription???
It would depend on how drying the prescription is. The best thing to do would call the dermatologist and ask if it would be o.k to use whatever scrub with the prescription that they prescribed.

My doctor gave me BenzaClin. It is a cream mix of what the OTC stuff is and an antibiotic to heal it and prevent it. It worked great for me.

  • How can I lessen the redness when using the prescription acne medication, Differin?

I am using clindamycin in the mornings and differin at night. I am three months into this regimen, and I only get pimples occasionally. I only have red marks left, pretty much. I apply to only my cheeks and chin (Lower half of my face except the nose). The areas where i apply medication is more red, in comparison to my forehead, or the top half of my face, where i dont apply differin. I'm quite sure its the differin that is making my face red because it is a very common side effect. I apply Dove SPF 15 sunblock + moisturizer combination in the mornings and complex 15 moisturizer at night. Is there anything I can do to subside the redness? Aloe vera, perhaps? Anything?

Thanks! How can I lessen the redness when using the prescription acne medication, Differin?
I'd suggest you lessen how much you are using. Acne medications have acid in them, and can be harsh to your skin. People who struggle with acne usually have sensitive skin. Did your doctor prescribe using both at one time? If not then stop using both and use what your doctor gave you because you might just be irritating your skin even more than normal. Just use it less often, or less of it. Keep moisturizing and using that sun block! How can I lessen the redness when using the prescription acne medication, Differin?
It's better to use Skinoren cream, it's doesn't make dry skin but off course if you will over dosage with Skinoren or any other medication for skin, you will don't cure your skin but will make more worse.

So be carefully and you have to know where to stop

What's the name of a really strong prescription drug for acne? Please share personal experience with it...

I took Acctuane for my acne and it worked wonders for me, there were some side effects like really dry flaky skin and more than enough nose bleeds but over all not so bad. There are other side effects that may occure as well, but i did not experince, such as depression. Do your research and talk to your doctor! What's the name of a really strong prescription drug for acne? Please share personal experience with it...
Acutane but has side effects so be careful. What's the name of a really strong prescription drug for acne? Please share personal experience with it...
Acutane and tricycline. They both are good , but do not take Acutane if you plan on having children anytime soon. It can cause birth defects. Some Birth controls do a really good job as well. I am sure you have tried different facial washes but go to a higher end department store and check out their selection. I have also heard that Mary Kay Cosmetics is really good for controlling acne. See a Dermatologist and see what they recommend for you. They went to medical school and I would hope they would know more that the average joe on here. Good luck
    one word.....PROACTIV

it's awesome. i had acne somewhere in the mild to severe area, but after like 3 weeks my face cleared up

disadvantages: it takes 2-3 weeks to work and you need to constantly use it

Is the number of grams on facial prescription creams for acne affect the strength?

Yes the stronger the grams the more potent the medication. Higher grams will cause more drying but will be more effective for severe acne. If you just have a pimple here or there you should use the lower grams to avoid drying out your skin too much.Is the number of grams on facial prescription creams for acne affect the strength?
grams have nothing to do with it.....grams are the amount of the cream/ointment you receive. MG are what determines the potency Report Abuse
Is the number of grams on facial prescription creams for acne affect the strength?
It denends on which number you are talking about. If you mean the number right after the drug name then yes this is the strength but if you mean the number in small letters near the bottom that would be how much is in the tube aka how many grams of ointment is in the tube.
Huh? Grams? You mean how much is in the container? The directions tell you how much to use and that is the indication of how much medication you are using each time.......not the amount IN the container.

What is a safe and effective non-prescription acne product?

I was wondering what you think would be the best non-prescription acne face wash for my situation.

I'm 14, have mild-acne on my forehead (even though it's believed to be a myth, I'm pretty sure this acne is because my bangs), and sometimes a pimple on a random location of my face. Other than that, my face is pretty clear and my skin is soft.

BEFORE I really got acne, which is when I was 12, I used Neutrogena Acne-Free Cream Cleanser ... or something like that. I can't find the exact name because Neutrogena doesn't manufacture this product anymore, but it was a creamy type wash...with a white/semi-translucent color. I used that once a day and I didn't have acne.

Then when that was out, I tried Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser. After I turned 13, I started getting some acne on my forehead but it was barely any.

After I turned 14, I started using Neutrogena Deep Clean Scrub at nighttime, and some random face wash in the morning. I found after I started washing my face in the morning, it helped control my acne/ random single pimples. But I'm noticing that nothing is getting RID of my acne.

According to my history of facial washes and my situation...what's the best SAFE acne wash to use?

One of my friends told me ProActiv didn't do ANYTHING for her...but I know it's different for everyone.

Another of my friends told me that AcneFree Clear Skin Treatments (the 3-step package) was working wonders on his face, but he's only tried it for a week or so...so I'm guessing he wouldn't know if it had any long-term side effects.

After I heard about AcneFree, I was planning to go buy some but I decided to do some research. I heard the benzoyl peroxide can burn your skin and irritate it severely? And that it makes it really dry? I also read that AcneFree carries MUCH more benzoyl peroxide than ProActiv or any other acne product...is that risky to try? If nothing has ever irritated my skin in the past, should I be safe?

If a product works after a few days, does that necessarily mean it'll work long-term? Because I've heard of people who found amazing acne products, but after a while, their acne returned...and sometimes it was worse?!

Maybe if I only have acne on my forehead, would it be wise to just use the wash on my forehead and use something more gentle on the rest of my face?

Sorry for the extremely long question ...

THANKS BIG TIME THOUGH :)What is a safe and effective non-prescription acne product?
I use AcneFree and it is the only thing that has cleared up my face.

It can start to burn a bit if you leave it on your face so you do need to take care that you don't let it just sit there. But I think it would take a while to give you chemical burns.

I think it just depends on your skin. Some people are really sensitive to the peroxide and cannot use it. Others have no problem with it. For me it has been great. I actually don't use the 3-step kit because the toner and lotion just made things worse but the face wash is AMAZING at least for me. They sell step one by itself in a big bottle now, I buy it at Target for about five bucks. What is a safe and effective non-prescription acne product?
I have used the acne free stuff and it worked for me i used it for about two weeks and it cleared my face up.
Cetaphill is gentle and works great. Also the Clinique 3-step system works really well too. Drink lots of water, that really helps.
First - it is not a myth about your bangs. Hair has natural oils that will get onto your skin, causing acne.

Second - do not use a product that contains alcohol. Rule is - if it stings...it is harming your skin. When I was a teenager there were these little pads (Oxy or something?) that we would rub on the face at night and I remember it stinging and even then I knew that wasn't a good idea.

Cetaphil works wonders and it is gentle for the skin. I think with ProActive, you'd be paying for the well-known name and for Jessica Simpson to be in the commercials. It is a rip-off, in my opinion.

Preventing acne - don't touch your face a lot, keep your pillowcases clean, wash your face before bed and in the morning.

There is no miracle cure for getting rid of an existing pimple. You can reduce its size by applying a hot wet washcloth and sometimes putting Visene on a cotton ball and holding it on the affected area will reduce redness.

The best thing to do for yourself is to wash at night...never use a washcloth - use your hands to lather and splash water on your face to rinse. PAT dry, don't rub.

In the morning after you wash your face use a gentle moisturizer, one that blends well (you may have to pay, but it is worth it). Clinique has a great one but you can also get some good Oil of Olay products.
Just try using different things such as Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid. Salicylic acid is supposed to be less harsh than Benzoyl Peroxide, but I take 5% benzoyl peroxide without any irritation. I hate Proactive, and I wasted a month of my time on it, I might actually have clear skin if I didn't listen to my mom and stop taking my prescriptions to try it. It's only active ingredient is 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, and you could get that in something over the counter. If you have sensitive skin, I wouldn't suggest it, but I've had no problem with my 5% gel, but Proactiv did sting my face a bit. I don't think it would be too risky to try Acne Free, if you don't have sensitive skin. You should use products all over your face even if acne is only on your forehead because most products work towards preventing new pimples as well, so if you only focused on clearing up your forehead, you might start breaking out in other places as well. That's just my opinion. I've had acne for a really long time, and I've tried a lot of stuff.
i have bangs to so i know your problem.

i tried proactiv and it didnt work at all.

i went to my derma and she said she could prescribe dupac, its new and its cheaper then most

i know its a prescription but if you have nothing else that works get that.

the other thing i used that actually seemed to work really well to get rid of my acne was the biore blemish clearing line or something like that.

    it actually works

    hope this helps
Do not use scrub like products with things like beads in them as they cause breakouts and irritate the acne.

If you don't want to go to your doctor, then try freederm face products, they are fantastic for getting rid of and preventing acne/spots.

Try to keep your fringe of your face as it encourages the outbreaks.
Its clear you try to keep good care about your skin! This is a good hing. Yes bangs do add oil and DIRT to the skin. Just be diligent about keeping Your skin clean. Cl ease the sin 3-4xs a day. Always use warm water and rinse with COOL water. This helps the skin stay moist and clean. I would stay away from infomercials....as these are expensive and you can use say Kiss My Face products found at drug stores or health food stores.
If I were you, I would try Pro-Activ. It was developed and marketed by two licensed and well-educated dermatologists. The results have been phenomenol. It may not work for everyone but I have heard very good things about it. The price has dropped too and I believe that it has a 30-day guarantee. Can't get better than that! Good luck!
Try Neutrogena Acne Wave. Its REALLY good. I had like alot of forhead acne and i had blothces [[shudder]] and like, after Idk a week a week and a half it went away :] I also got results from the first time i tried it. :] AcneFree didn't do anything for me :/
im 13 and my face is tha same way. but then i got the CLEAN AND CLEAR 3-STEP SYSTEM and it worked wonders for my face. it contains face wash, moisterizer, and spot treatment (for those random pimples) it simple to use and gives you pretty fast results and it works long term to. Hope i helped!!!! :))

What are some prescription medications for acne?and what are some none prescription mediacation for acne?

name as many as you can cause ,i really need some serious help with my acne. What are some prescription medications for acne?and what are some none prescription mediacation for acne?
    THIS WORKS FAST %26amp; CHEAP!!!

I used Tetracycline, Proactive, Retina A and had many expensive facials with less than good results. This has worked for me and many many other happy people.

Go to pharm., Drug store, or Wal-Mart, buy ';PURPOSE'; bar of soap - Blue box - Made by Johnson %26amp; Johnson - wash your face with this 2-3x's per day. Also pick up a LOW strength Benzoyl-peroxide cream, apply the cream by dabbing to the individual blemishes.... DON鈥橳 rub it in works using a oxidation/reduction reaction. It will unclog

dry it out and bring it to a head...DON鈥橳 over use this or put anywhere else on your face. It will cause drying and make you look worse.

Salicylates such as found in regular aspirin among other products work very similar but also remove layers of skin...other over the counter creams with this product will dry out pimples but maybe too hash and cause surrounding skin trauma..

I have seen many people recommending crushing aspirin and making a paste which probably will dry out the blemish but again pretty strong and probably will cause more tissue damage and bigger scars as an anti inflammatory probably would take the redness out... again pretty harsh for sensitive skin.

Also, If need which probably will for moisture ASK FOR ';NUTRADERM lotion'; - the original not the new stuff, this works great and wont clog pores or leave a residue on your skin...Any lotion that is completely oil free and hypo allergic should work but again I recommend Nutraderm. I have heard from people online that ';Purpose'; also makes a lotion that is good, Neutrogena, and Nivea make good products also. I recommend Nutraderm from experience and my dermatologist.

';Purpose Bar'; %26amp; ';Nutraderm'; are oil free and hypo allergic they contain no perfumes and are great for both men and women. I have also heard great reports of this soap helping improve skin tone. Some people recommend the ';Purpose liquid soap'; saying

that the bar did dry out their skin some. The rational behind using the bar is that there are no ingredients in it that will clog pores, and according to dermatologists they recommend the Bar. I have also heard good responses from ';cetaphil soap';. These products are safe for all skin colors and tones. I highly discourage use of Proactive and other harsh chemicals for people with some natural color in their face due to the bleaching and drying effect it has shown in many many people.

Additional TIPS: acne, pimples, etc are frequently cause by a bacteria or hormone issues that cause clogging of pores. DON鈥橳 PICK POP POKE (your hands are the dirtiest part of your body) and will cause: infections, spreading of germs, more breakouts and scarring

DON鈥橳 EVER listen to people online who tell you to scrub your sensitive skin or use harsh chemicals such as: Lemon juice, vinegar, alcohol, etc... DON鈥橳 EVER use that APRICOT CRAP!!! DON鈥橳 USE PROACTIVE- this is expensive and harsh it may kill the bacteria because also Benzoyl based wash but will irritate skin and cause bleaching of face and neck.... Other similar treatments may work.. Also things such as Accutane but have SERIOUS side effects such as Major Depression, %26amp; birth defects in unborn children, among others

If you wear make up make sure it is oil free, %26amp; hypo allergic...Eating healthy...Drinking plenty of water.. Changing pillow cases freq. ...avoiding dirty sports equip. such as helmets...can not hurt...Acne/pimples again are caused by pores/hair follicles becoming plugged up, this plugging then causes an inflammatory reaction - redness and infection (pimple)..black head is dirt or old oil trapped in pore, while a white head is the same thing you just don鈥檛 see the dirt instead you see white pus (lymphocytes that accumulate in the area to fight the infection) It has been shown in many studies this most often not caused by what you eat (chocolate etc... or how clean you are) but most often by either excess oils plugging pores or a bacteria on the skins surface. - Proactive works in some people because it is a strong Benzoyl peroxide based washed but is most freq. to strong

for people with sensitive skin - this is why alot of people get excessive drying and flaking, rashes, bleaching or breakouts from the product. Retina-A does decrease the bacterial growth on your face but also removes dead/living skin, this can work well in some individuals and has been shown to reduce wrinkles and scars but again I feel this is pretty harsh on sensitive skin prone to breakouts. If you choose Retina-A never use this product during the day only at night due to the sensitivity it will give you to the sun. You must also get a prescription for this product and I really don't believe it is worth the damage it does to your skin. In some rare cases for very deep/large boils and cyst types

of pimples oral antibiotics maybe needed but I would first recommend trying ';purpose'; and a low dose ';benzoyl-peroxide cream'; along with a good oil free moisturizer ';Nutraderm... etc'; this does work well.

THIS WORKS FAST AND CHEAP!!! I no longer get expensive facials, take oral antibiotics, or even NEED makeup... I am very happy - Have very good skin... and have many many other happy friends... THANKS again to my WONDERFUL DERMATOLOGIST... TRY THIS!! GOOD LUCK.... PS. ';PURPOSE'; costs about $3 ----------------------------------------鈥?br>

I am taking Accutane, a prescription acne medicine taken orally. My period is late...NO SEX...i am a teen...?

i am pretty sure my period will be coming soon since i ovulated last week (the egg whiteish sticky stuff)...

my period should've come in this past week...i know that becausei am still a teen, i can be irregular at times... i think this might have to do with my irregular sleep schedule (been sleeping at four, waking up at ten, sleeping at twelve, waking up at 7, etc.) and a lot of exercise...

    my main question is:

WILL THEY TAKE ME OFF THE MEDICATION IF I TELL THEM THIS?I am taking Accutane, a prescription acne medicine taken orally. My period is late...NO SEX...i am a teen...?
Probably not, since you're obviously not pregnant. But I seriously can't believe they didn't put you on the Pill before even prescribing the accutane. That's against the protocol. Accutane causes hideous birth defects, and most doctors will take no chances that you'll become pregnant by any means while on this drug.

The dermatologist I worked for eons ago required his female patients to sign a form promising to (a) use two forms of birth control (b) abort if they somehow became pregnant anyway while on accutane. If they wouldn't sign the form, they wouldn't get the accutane.

Dry skin due to prescription acne cream?

I have been prescribed: Tretinoin Cream USP 0.05%, and Clindamycin 1% Gel 30 GM, for acne. Both of these eliminate acne almost perfectly for me, the only problem is they dry my skin out to the poin where it stings, and peels. I have tried Aveeno Active Naturals-Daily Moisturizing Lotion for my dry skin problems, but it has not worked. Usually it works that i put the prescribed acne products on for one day or a few hours at a time, and then my skin will peel for about 4 days, even with lotion on 24/7. Any suggestions on how to follow the directions on the prescriptions ';Apply to Face Once Daily';, and not have to worry about horribly dry skin?Dry skin due to prescription acne cream?
You can try other lotions, but make sure they say on the container that they won't clog pores or that they're noncomedogenic (which means the same thing).

If lotion still doesn't work for you after a week or two, tell your dermatologist what's happening. It could be that the strength of the active ingredients in the cream and gel you're putting on your face are too strong, so your derm. can possibly give you a lower-strength prescription or try something milder.Dry skin due to prescription acne cream?
dryness of the skin is a side effect of retinoid use. To reduce this effet, use topical copper or even topical niacinamide.

Worsens with prescription acne cream, dry skin problems respond well to self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. If you have very dry and scaly skin, your doctor may recommend you use an all-natural cream that contains natural oils that gives soothing and glowing results.

Why is my acne worse when I am taking the Dr.'s prescription: Differin Gel and Doxycycline (antibiotic)?

Why is my acne worse when I am taking the Dr.'s prescription: Differin Gel and Doxycycline (antibiotic)? I've been popping em every day since I started using the meds; isn't the problem supposed to go away? Why is my acne worse when I am taking the Dr.'s prescription: Differin Gel and Doxycycline (antibiotic)?
I'm no doctor and I'd say listen to your doctor, but if it's not working for you, why continue?

There are so many things that may cause acne and it's different for every person. I heard that even if you're able to pin-point what causes it for you that it can still take a few months before you begin to see improvements. Perhaps you need to wait longer?

For me, what was causing my acne was milk and dairy. I'm a big milk drinker. Once I went off of milk, limiting myself to only cheese and butter, I noticed my acne went down significantly. Some people will say milk is the cause of acne, other people say it isn't. For me personally, it was; however I had to stay on my no-milk diet for several weeks before noticing a difference. Milk contains natural birth hormones that are produced in cows to help with their pregnancy and the growth of the cafe. These hormones add to the already existing teenage adolescent hormones, pushing many teenagers ';over the limit'; and leading to acne. Note that drinking organic milk won't help, because it's the natural hormones in the milk that cause the problem. Organic or non-organic, those natural hormones still exist within the cow's milk.

Bacteria plays a role in acne. I notice that I'd often touch my face a lot, but that this only made it worse. For example, while sitting at a desk reading a book you may be tempted to lean your head in your hand. Your hands have lots of bacteria on them and by doing this that bacteria is transfered to your face and increase your acne. Try to not touch your face AT ALL, save only to clean it, and even then be very gentle and pat your face dry after you get out of the shower or after you clean it. Rubbing at your skin vigorously or doing anything else to irritate it (such as picking at your acne) will only make it worse.

Another piece of advice I have is to use a facial cleanser with 2% benzoyl peroxide. Don't get the 10% kind, it will dry out your face and may cause more acne. Make sure you check the ingredients and that you get the 2% kind. Apply it generously, but gently onto your face. Use facial moisturizer afterward.

Those are some suggestions that have worked for me in the past. Remember:

    1) Reduce your dairy intake

    2) Don't touch your face

    3) Be gentle with your face when cleaning

    4) Use 2% benzoyl peroxide and moisturizer afterwardWhy is my acne worse when I am taking the Dr.'s prescription: Differin Gel and Doxycycline (antibiotic)?
Eventually the problem will go away. But the problem really lies in your diet and family history. If your parents had bad skin, chances are you will too, and it probably won't stop until you're in college. And even in college you will still break out sometimes because life is stressful and stress also causes breakouts.

Try the differin and all of that stuff because it DOES HELP, but stay out of the sun and use sunscreen and don't give up. Try not to use the same thing for too long though because they always seem to lose their strength after awhile.

I liked differin when I was 14, tazarac when I was 16 and proactive when I was 18. Now at 20, I rotate between the proactive and using nothing at all. My skin is still really oily but I stay away from greasy things and I keep my dirty fingers off my face.

But when it comes down to the source, look at your diet. Stay away from fast food, it's full of trans fats and thats the last thing your skin needs. Try to eat naturally, your body will thank you.
the dr.'s prescriptions are strong and may irritate your skin if youre using too much of it. make sure you take the antibiotic regularly, without skipping so your body wont develop immunity to the medicine. when using the gel, try not to use an excessive amount. it could irritate the skin or make it worse. just use pea-sized amounts all over the face. if you seen no improvement after a month or two, let your dr. know. some medicines work for people and some dont. unfortunately, from experience, i know that acne is a difficult thing and takes some time to heal. eating healthily, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep, washing your face twice a day, and staying stress free may also help clear up your acne. i hope this helps you. i wish you the best.
Acne often gets worse before it gets better. If your acne has gotten worse and worse as a result of taking the pills, give your doctor a call and let him know what's going on. If it's a normal reaction and your doctor thinks you'll start to clear up soon, keep using it.

    Hang in there!
My derm prescription didnt start working until 4 months, and I was told it had to get worse before it got better, because everything she put me on, including the topicals brought out all the blemishes I had, then cleared it up.
you need to call your doctor and tell him or her that so you can get something dofferent for your acne. Using that gel is probably causing a reaction and the reaction just so happens to give you more pimples.
often times when you use new meds, they take time to start taking effect. since the weakest germs die first, the ones that cause acne are able to take a stronger hold. in a few weeks the meds should help clear up, if not talk with your dr.
How long have you been taking them?

It usually starts to heal after about 3 months, but before that it will unfortunately flare up.

From someone who's been through it all, believe me it's worth it.
it's not just the medicine that makes it better...you have to watch what you eat and not drink a lot of caffine or else it'll just get worse and dont touch or pick at your face

How long do prescription acne medications take to clear up skin?

I've been doing the routine I'm on for about 2 months

    My routine is:

    MORNING

    1. Wash with Burt's Bee's Garden Tomato Complexion Soap (well, I've been using this for about a week, my derm told me to use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, but it was WHAAAYYYY too harsh, so I took the natural approach)

    2. Put BenzaClin (Rx- Prescribed by dermatologist) on my cheeks, nose, chin... everywhere except my forehead

    3. Put Ziana (Rx - Prescribed by dermatologist ) on my forehead

    NIGHT

    1. Wash with same complexion soap as in the morning

    2. BenzaClin all over face

    3. Take Doxycyline (Rx - prescribed by doctor - Acne PILL not topical )

    4. Take Fish Oil Supplement

    5. Take Multi Vitamin

    NOTE:

Everything I do is prescribed by my dermatologist, except for the complexion soap because what he recommended was too harsh. I do everything as he said to do it and I don't over do it.

I only pop them when I know they're ready and they're really sore.

I eat only organic food with no preservatives and no artificial colouring, only whole wheat bread, no dairy only soy, no red meats.

I don't use prescribed treatment for my acne I use St. Ives apricot scrub acne cleanser (found at wal mart). And clearasyl acne treatment cream (also found at wal mart) I first scrub my face with the St. Ives scrub then i dry and put the clearasyl cream on after it. I do that day and night and it work really great!!! Give it a try...It's cheap too!
Gee!! You should have flawless skin after all that! Honestly with my skin i have found that sometimes less is more. I use a face wash and a moisturizer. Maybe it is just your age? I would def. talk your dermatologist if your not seeing results in a month. Your skin care routine should not rule your life!! Good luck :)

What are some good non-prescription medications for acne (besides Proactiv)?

From my experience Proactiv is too aggressive. I have 6 years of experience as a make-up artist and skin care consulter and I can tell you that this product is way better:

    http://www.clearpores.com/clicks/clickth鈥?/a>

It's called ClearPores - you get 3 things.

    - A product that cleans your pores and kills bacteria

    - Nutritional supplement that helps your body to fight acne from the inside!

    - Protective cream that prevents from further acne...

I've tried hundreds of different things. But the best results were always achieved if I did nutrition with the skin care products. Acne is happening deeper in skin layers where products can't reach only from the outside.

ClearPores supplement is great, it is natural and helps your body's immune system to fight bacteria and also there is less sebum drained to the surface of your skin.

It helps with all kinds of acne. Whiteheads, blackheads, non-inflammatory acne, inflammatory acne.

That's it from me, hope it helped!

Good Luck! What are some good non-prescription medications for acne (besides Proactiv)?
clearasil, soap and water, laying off the sweets, and getting outside (sun exposure and sweating). What are some good non-prescription medications for acne (besides Proactiv)?
anything containing salicilic acid or benzoyl peroxide. some people find the latter to be a little harsh on the skin, but you just have to figure out what works best for you. usually the prescription stuff just has a slightly higher amount of either salicilic acid of b. peroxide. its also worthwhile to check out a higher-end makeup counter like clinique. they often have awesome acne meds with moisturizers and tea tree oil (tea tree oil doesn't work on its own). the down side is these are kinda expensive. johnson's and johnson's persa gel is great. make sure you wash, moisturize and spot treat
look for internal cleanses, thats what you need...like dandelion tea/leaves...stay away from sugar. Try tea tree oil on the pimples. Go to gratefulbody.com and buy the RX Acne spray, its great. Or buy one of Paul Penders acne treatment washes.
differin- cream that's good.go to Ur docs.and then get it at Morrison's chemist or something.benzoyl peroxide face wash.u can get that from boots.
There is a product called Liquid Silver that is sold in drug stores, health food stores, or can be ordered. It is not a drug so it does not contain harsh and aggressive chemicals like drugs do. It is taken under the tongue, and also mixed with water and sprayed on the acne. Go to this site listed in ';sources'; and there you can read about acne, and there are testimonies from people who have used Liquid Silver to quickly clear up their acne. You will also find how much Liquid Silver to use under your tongue and how much Liquid Silver to mix with water and how often to spray on acne. This product is also inexpensive compared to the cost of drugs used to clear acne.

For some reason the complete web address does not appear in sources, so after the word ';scar,'; put a period and the letters htm.

    Good luck!! :)

Convincing argument for prescription acne meds?

I'm 14 and I've had really horrible acne for over 2 years now--it's all over my forehead, cheeks, chin, and a little on my back. I've tried a TON of stuff, ProActive, Oxy, Neutragena, Clean %26amp; Clear, Clearasyl, plus a lot of store brands, and it always gets a little better in the beginning but then it just goes back to normal and I can never get it to go away! Our pediatrician said I could get prescription medication for it if I wanted, but my mom won't let me. She calls it ';unnecessary medication';, and that these things always make more problems than they solve, and that my acne will clear up on it's own over time.

But I hate it! I can't go to high school like this! I've tried to tell her how much it bothers me but she just blows it off----what are some good arguments I can use for getting her to let me get prescription meds?Convincing argument for prescription acne meds?
    man that sucks, i'm sorry.

since you're only 14, your acne probably wouldn't go away by itself for at least 5 years, maybe longer. some people keep having acne through their adult years. clearing up your skin would boost your self-confidence immensely, and not having to worry about your skin would help you focus more on school and the rest of your life.

since Accutane is pretty dangerous, i think you should start smaller.

go to your pediatrician, and ask her about the side effects, pros/cons, etc. of a prescription like Benzaclin.

****make sure your mom is there to hear how minimal the side effects are, and how awesome the benefits are. *****

seriously, it's just dry/flaky skin that's easily counteracted with a daily moisturizer.

i started getting acne when i was about 12, and like you, tried pretty much everything, including proactiv. then i got on benzaclin when i was about 15 and it works great. i use clean%26amp;clear dual action moisturizer for everyday, and those little 50 cent tins of Nivea cream when my skin's super dry.

good luck, prescriptions really are the way to go in this case imo.Convincing argument for prescription acne meds?
Have you tried any natural cures?

EarthClinic has a number of people successfully using vinegar for acne...

Worth a try. Price is right. Good luck.
That's a shame, but I get the same problem all the time with mothers and their kids in my office. If the mother is really against the child being on an oral agent, then at least I can start with a topical antibiotic/benzoyl peroxide product and see what it does over 6 weeks. If that doesn't do the trick, then I will have a heart to heart talk with the mother, and ask specifically what about the oral agents she's afraid of. Usually it's the myth that it will make you more susceptible to infections, and ruin your immune system. I tell her that the huge 20 year studies showed no problems taking the usual course of antibiotics; in addition, the risk of suicide in teens who have bad self esteem from acne is very large; and that treating the acne can, at times, be life saving.

    Usually, the moms eventually relent.

Of course, your mom may be saying that on the basis of financial needs at the moment, as going to the doctor for professional help and getting prescription meds is not cheap.

    Hi Rosey

Here is a method I just learned about and it;s worth exploring.

    INTRODUCTION TO OIL PULLING (';OP';)

    REPORTED CURES WITH OIL PULLING:

Mouth %26amp; Gum Disease; Stiff Joints; Allergies; Asthma; Acne, High Blood Sugar; Constipation; Migraines; Bronchitis; Eczema; Heart, Kidney, Lung Diseases; Leukemia; Arthritis; Meningitis; Insomnia; Menopause (hormonal issues); Cancer; AIDS; Chronic Infections; Varicose Veins; High Blood Pressure; Diabetes; Polio; Cracked Heels,.

Here's are a few paragraphs from Bharat Savur's article on The Hindu Business Online

...';When Dr Karsch examined the gargled milk-white oil under a microscope with 600 magnification, he saw live organisms swimming in it. It's poisonous, so never swallow it, he warns. These poisons are bacteria-embryos, which, if not eliminated, cause diseases. Apparently, Dr Karsch cured his own chronic blood disease and 15-year-old arthritis.

The first sign of improvement is in the teeth-they become firm and white, he says. Other healing indications: fresh, relaxed feeling on waking up, disappearing dark pouches below the eyes, anew appetite and energy, better memory and deep sleep.

Dr Karsch swears by the mouth oil-wash for anything from organ-disorders, skin-diseases, menstrual problems, paralysis to every ache and it is in the human anatomy. You can gargle even when you have fever, he says, adding, it takes anything from two days to a year to cure a disease.

And if these claims sound exaggerated, he told a conference of Ukrainian cancer specialists, try out the process yourself.

Interestingly, Ayurveda advises oil gargling ';to purify the taste-buds and the entire system';, as explained by Dr Deepak Chopra in Perfect Health.

According to this life science, the tongue is mapped by organ-locations 鈥?that is, each section of the tongue is connected to the kidneys, lungs, spleen, liver, heart, pancreas, small intestines, stomach, colon, and spine.

Thus, an oil-mouth-massage soothes and stimulates the key meridians where taste meets organ. Simultaneously, as in any skin-massage, the inner skin and lining of the mouth, palate and tongue become warm and supple and the lubrication prevents dryness (the vatic effect).

In modern dietetics too, dryness is discussed.

For example, lack of Vitamin A (retinal) causes the outer lining of the eyeball to dry and wrinkle, and affects vision.

And as any dietician would tell you, all oils contain 960 micrograms of vitamin A per 10 gm (the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A per adult is 600 micrograms). So, it's possible that oil gargling helps in reaching the required retinal to the eyeballs and keeps them elastic and smooth.

Likewise, the Ayurvedic `purification of taste-buds' also has its equivalent in dietetics as `antioxidants'. Oxidation literally means `the putrefaction of body-tissues'.

    And oil-soluble vitamins, A, C, D, and E are antioxidants that protect and prevent the decaying process and help maintain the integral functioning of cell membranes. That's why, many people are ingesting vitamin E pills to stem `aging' (oxidation). ';

Wash your face well with a face wash for your skin type and keep it clean. Check your diet, too much of anything will be worked out through your skin mostly. Don't push any allergies like I'm allergic to milk, if I have too much normal milk I break out. Usually people will grow out of most acne so just keep up with it and if it keeps getting worse see a dermetologist to get extra help. It's not too hard once you start to beat it, I use a black head clearing face scrub and morning burst wash. Limit oily lotions and avoiding touching your face a lot if your hands are dirty. Pores get clogged really easy so just find what works and stick to it. Good luck!
Keep your face clean, use a salicylic acid scrub if your face isn't too sensitive, and don't pick at blemishes. Use benzyl peroxide on blemishes to dry them, it is not expensive and it works. Getting older helps more than anything.
stridex..4 stars and works like a charm..you will see the differ.. in less than a week.
Wash your Facial area more often. Or the place with acne.Acne is form due to clogging of the skin pores so by :

using a clean towel soak with water gently wipe the face thoroughly to clean the dirt off your face. than allow the face to dry or use dry towel to dry the moisture off.

Try to do this every 4 hr(or just often but leave at least 3hr in between) while you are awake. It's ok to skip once or twice but keep it up for a week and the problem should be solved.
Try staying away from all dairy products... no milk, cheese, yogurt. Good Luck!

benzoyl peroxide cream works pretty quickly. the best acting prescription is roaccutane (known under several other names) but it is a serious drug with serious side effects
The yoke of an egg !! Seriously this works amazingly well. Smear the yellow part on your face and let it dry for about 45 minutes. Do this once a day and you will always have flawless skin.
their is a prescription cream called Benzaclyn that works well, should take only a few days to clear up
try choking it up with tooth paste overnight. It will dimnish the other day. Sound stupidly innovative, but is indeed worth.

Which prescription acne creams/gels are the best?

I have been suffering with moderate-to-severe acne for awhile now. I went to the dermatologist who tried to put me on Accutane, but I chickened out after 2 days of treatment because I鈥檝e heard horror stories about hair loss and other side effects. So that option is out. I also don鈥檛 really want to get into oral drugs because I鈥檓 afraid I鈥檒l develop a resistance to the drug, and my acne will break out worse than ever once I stop taking it. That leaves topical creams and gels. I鈥檝e already tried most non-prescription stuff including Proactive and none of them work for me.

This leaves me with prescription-only creams and gels to try, and so my question is:

Which prescription acne creams/gels are the best?

Note: I鈥檓 currently using Benzamycin, which works a little, but not nearly enough.

Please give me some advice!Which prescription acne creams/gels are the best?
From what my dermatologist has said, the strongest gel is tazorac. It is really similar to accutane in what it does to your skin to stop the acne, but without the side effects of accutane. I think it depends on how well your skin reacts to it on how well it does. I was on tazorac for what seemed like forever, and I had been on almost every medicine before that to treat my acne. My dermatologist told me to use it once a day, but I was still breaking out, so I then started using it twice daily, which REALLY shocked my doctor. The only side effect I had was that every once in a while my face would feel like it was on fire (I had to sleep with a cold washcloth over my face to make it stop), and that started when I loaded tazorac on twice a day. A lot of people get dry skin while on it, but apparently my face produces a lot of oil, so my face never got dry. I started taking accutane 5 days ago, and I am fine. All of my friends and relatives who have been on it basically have perfect skin now, and all said that I was going to LOVE what accutane is going to do for me. Their are a lot of bad side effects for most prescription drugs (listen to the commercials) and accutanes side effects really aren't worse. I really think you should reconsider accutane. I was on many MANY different medications for 3 YEARS before I got it, and I had to get a new dermatologist that would give it to me to get it (the one before said my face was not bad enough to get it and the one before that refused to prescribe it because of ';legal issues.'; Examples of drugs that I was on: tazorac, differin, benzoclyn, monoclycine, metrogel, evoclin, bactrim, etc. etc. etc.

    Best prescription acne treatments?

I don't have it BAD, but I CAN get it at really random times. Like I'll get a breakout and it clears like in a week and then comes back like 2 weeks later... I get it only on my cheeks. Never on the forehead and RARELY on the chin.

I would like any recommendations for oral antibiotics (minocycline, tetra, doxy, minocin, etc). Also, what dosage is best?

Topical: I'd like to dry Differin .3 because my cousin uses it, but he uses the .1 and he says it works really well.

Also for washing, how's washing with Cetaphil both morning and night and applying their or some other SPF moisturizer in the morning and regular moisturizer at night before or after the Differin?

    Thanks!Best prescription acne treatments?
I use to use minocycline but I can't remember the dosage. I used it for about 6 months and then quit. It worked really well. I also used Differin .1 and it worked AWESOME. I also had prescription face wash and lotion but i can't for the life of me remember what they were called.

Your best bet would be going to see a doctor and discussing with them. They'll have to give you a script anyways..Best prescription acne treatments?
i use benzaclin and tretinoin as external cream and take minocycline as oral(but i tried all of those medicine before.)

Those two cream are the best i've used so far during my 6 years of terrible acne.

you apply the moisturizer/lotion and then apply the acne cream.

I wouldn't say it's random times, it could be that you're stressing too much on those breakouts; try sleeping more. It could also be your diet, like my skin is more prone to getting nodulars when i eat seafood.
Well, it doesn't seem like you have very serious acne problems so I wouldn't recommend using such powerful and harsh products such as the ones you have mentioned. Try Kiehl's blue products. They're effective, made from natural (supposedly) ingredients and aren't over-powering, in most cases.

Clarins has some great moisturizers and cleansers. Try their Matte Line. They're oil free and makes your skin softer, smoother, and controls oil production.
I used antibiotics and they didn't have much effect on it. For washing, I have used Zoderm cleanser, it's pretty good. For the sunblock/moisturizer, I've used Neutrogena clear skin lotion with SPF.

Does anyone know any really good prescription pills for acne??

only one i know of is tetracycline.

it's a twice a day pill you have to take on an empty stomach.

it clears you up pretty well i would say.

of course there are always health risks, but your doctor will tell you them if you get them prescribed.Does anyone know any really good prescription pills for acne??
The only ';cure'; for cystic acne is Accutane. Any other topical or oral medication taken for acne will only control it, but not deal with the root cause.

I have had cystic acne since my teen years and tried everything on the market. It wasn't until I was 30 years old that I finally went the Accutane route and I wish I had done it years earlier. I don't break out anymore at all.

I know there is controversy concerning Accutane, but to me, if taken properly under a good doctors supervision, the benefits more than outweigh the side-effects (especially for a man who does not have to worry about the pregnancy issue)

Hope this helps.Does anyone know any really good prescription pills for acne??

  • Prescription acne medication?

I'm almost 16 so i know acne is ';just gonna happen';. But this is getting ridiculous. I don't have severe cystic acne, but enough to have low self esteem issues. I've used neutrogena, clean and clear, cetaphil, and clearisil, all with no help. I've used acne treatment gels, with the same minimal result.

I've used tea tree oil, and proactiv both of which are EXTREMELY drying. Proactiv burnt my skin and after I stopped using it, (used for about 3 months) my skin got a lot worse. I switched to tea tree oil which is also extremely drying and similar to proactiv, if I don't use it for 1 day, my skin looks horrible.

I used to get nasty white heads on my chin and around my mouth and upper lip, which have stopped but have been replaced with small bumps, some not visible to the naked eye, all over my face. i get red zits that aren't popable and leave scars. Here is a testimonial Posted: Sat Dec 01, 2007 5:03 am Post subject: Acne gone in three weeks, wow!!

I'm 49 years old and developed acne in my early 40's. My son had acne as a teenager and went on roaccutane (horrific drug). It cured his acne, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it. My daughter had serious cystic acne and wanted to go on roaccutane as well recently, which I was very much against, but she is 20 years old and has suffered for years. It has scarred her back, chest, her upper arms, and of course her face. I couldn't understand why we had this problem, because we have the perfect diet (I thought). I was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer five years ago and we did a drastic change of diet, as in extreme healthy. Also, there is no history of skin disorders on either side of the family. The skin problems, however, persisted. Four months ago I started making kefir with kefir grains that I bought on the internet... if you google you will find several suppliers. Also some people will send them for free. I happened to start taking Udo's oil and fish oil at the same time. It was a coincidence. My skin was clear within three weeks. My daughter had just finished a course of antibiotics for her skin (very much against my wishes as I think that in most cases antibiotics are a waste of time and dangerous to boot), and was clamouring for the roaccutane. I had to persuade her to use the kefir and flax oil/fish oil combination. She's used to me trying out all sorts of combinations over the years.

Finally she gave in and within three weeks (NOT kidding here, it happened so fast, just like for me) she was clear. We drink the kefir and take the oils at the same time.

I looked up 'Kefir Flax oil' in google and came up with Dr. Johanna Budwig, who was a German scientist who claimed to cure cancer with a flaxseed/quark (kefir, cottage cheese...) combination. It sounds far-fetched but actually she was nominated for a noble prize six times. Alot of info on good fats/oils was discovered by her.

On top of clearing our skin beautifully (no lumps, bumps, irritations of any kind except for past scars... we have great energy.

Can I just buy the acne medicine ';accutane'; or do I need a prescription from a dermatologist first?

No. You must have a prescription from a dermatologist in order to get it. Accutane is a last resort drug reserved for people with severe acne. It has many potential serious side-effects and users of the drug need to be registered with the iPLEDGE program to obtain it. This program requires all females who can become pregnant to be using two forms of birth control whilst on the drug and to receive monthly pregnancy tests. It also requires both males and females to get monthly blood tests to monitor triglyceride and AST levels. All users also have to answer a series of questions on the iPLEDGE website before their prescription will be filled. Prescription Acne Medications ? ? ?

    Hi :D

I am about to go to the doctor to get some prescribed acne medication because I'm just sick of having oily skin acne etc. I would look gorgeous if it was all gone which frustrates me more.

Now I was wondering how many people have tried prescription medication and what were the side effects. I don't want to be given something that will make my face flake and dry for half a year and moisturizer wont help.

Has anyone tried a prescription medication that has worked and hasn't destroyed their skin through dryness etc? I'd like to know.

(Any pro-active spammers please, I don't want to hear it).

    Thanks in advance.Prescription Acne Medications ? ? ?
yay!!! i have ultra-oily skin too!!!

i use oil absorbing sheets (drugstore brand or clean and clear if you have too--they test on animals)

make up removing cloths (drugstore or pond's--also tests)

side effects... dry skin. and i believe that they surprizingly work a lot slower.... that's my experience. it reads 'it may take several weeks for results'

i love ~H20+ moisterizer. very much. $35 for a bottle. love it. or clinique. they both don't test on animals.

if your skin is prone to drying, i would use a daily acne wash (2% acne med) and a toner (no alcohol so your oil glands don't go on overdrive from the dryness... you can go to the drugstore--it's a little more expensive, but worth it. you can also go to ~H20+) then end with an oily skin moisterizer--face oasis (H20+), or the gel from clinique. the gels are for oily skin. but if you go drugstore, then i would choose the ones for oily skin.

clearasil ultra's acne cream is awesome! i love it. $10 @ drugstores.i would apply it after toner. before moisterizer. if you don't moisterize, then your skin would be dry, leading to more oil.Prescription Acne Medications ? ? ?
I took Accutane for 20 weeks. You have to be monitored and get monthly bloodwork done while taking it and it does have side effects. It dries out your mucous membranes. I don't remember facial drying per se, but if it happened, it didn't bother me as much as as having dry eyes, nose and mouth.

I have tried various topical prescriptions (benzoyl peroxide, Retin-A) but what really took care of it for me was the Accutane. Your oily skin won't go away, but your acne can be diminished.
pro active doesnt work for young teenagers it will only worsen it. i have pimples too and i will look so preety when i dont have those so i recommend using neutrogena or u can ask ur doctor for better sure
It works really well, but it sure does dry out your skin. You'll have to decide for yourself which is worse.

I've just turned 22 and have started with really bad breakouts, which I think might be stress related [I eat healthy, drink over average 2L of water a day].

I have tried almost every product on the shelves and contemplated buying Proactive but decided not to knowing my face reacts horribly with Benzoyl Peroxide.

I have a doctor's appointement in about a month and will mention it to her and look for something prescription. I have tried Dalacin T in the past, it worked, but it no longer does.

Does anyone have any suggestions of products they tried? I am certainly no interested with Accutane. My friend was on it was horrible. I have joint issues and history of depression, I don't want to go back down there.

I wouldn't mind something oral, but Im afraid of interference with birth control. But am open to suggestions.Prescription Acne Treatments?
Why bother? Bet your already ugly so don't bother trying to get rid of zits.Prescription Acne Treatments?
    Hi Andrea....

I posted this in another question, but the answer seemed perfect for your question too....I hope you don't mind that I did a copy %26amp; paste....

';NO PROACTIV! I tried it for five months and I took pictures of my face week by week...it got worse and worse and worse. The reps for Proactiv urged me to just ';keep using it because soon I'd see results';....but it was a LONG trial...I had had enough!! They just want your money.

Here's the nitty gritty....I finally went to my derm. because I am getting married in 10 weeks....any acne you have won't be cleared up with any OTC product from what you are describing....this is my problem as well...

The best thing is that you have scheduled an appt. with a dermatologist.....he/she will give you prescription strength medication and possibly an oral acne antibiotic. Both will take 4-6 weeks to show results, but THEY WORK. The OTC meds aren't getting to the root of your problem...nor mine...so I'm serious when I say you need the doctor-prescribed meds. I have wasted probably $600 dollars in acne meds (OTC, Target-bought, Wal-Mart bought, etc.) and could have saved it all. Think about seeing a derm. doctor...it's worth it.

Best meds so far are Retin-A and Minocycline/Tetracycline/Doxycycline (oral antibiotics).

    OH....and here's something my derm. asked me....what kind of moisturizer are you using, if any? This is OTC but you'll have to ask the pharmacist for it. It's Aqua Glycolic face cream....google it and see it's reviews. It works....it's also about $20....but it moisturizes and delivers Alpha Hydroxy Acids and glycolic acid to your skin...it needs that for cell turnover and gentle exfoliation. I've been using it for a week and I CAN see the difference in my face. Check it out.';

Hope that helps some...the oral acne med WILL clear up your skin but, it will interfere with your birth control....sorry.
what i use is from Market America

there's the Skintelligence line, and then F.A.C.E. pads that have seemed to work miracles for me.
