hi im 15. i have pimples/blackheads. i use doctors prescribed medication called tazorac at night, Duac Topical Gel in the morning and i use cetaphil (a skin cleanser prefered by my dermatoligist) to clean my face. Ive been using these products since may and now its december. I do have to admit its cleared up my face alot, but there are still countless numbers of blackheads and my face just doesnt look like clear healthy skin when i look in the car mirror. i also rarely ever eat chocolate/peanuts too (they enhance pimple production)
-What should i do?
-Any at home remmedies i can do to make my face clearer?I use doctors prescription medicine for acne/blackheads, and yet my face is not clear and smooth? help?
Skin problems are the pits. I truly sympathize with you! I had zits when I was your age and my mom took me to a dermatologist, too. Didn't do a heck of a lot of good, either.
I did learn some interesting stuff, though. Acne usually starts on the forehead, then moves down. You probably noticed a few small bumps when you were younger. As the ailment progressed, you may have noticed that your cheeks were affected and may now be experiencing them below your jawline and on your back.
Some people disagree whether or not chocolate and peanuts affect acne, but many doctors do agree that hormones may play a huge factor. Here's a good article about what causes acne:

It looks like this website is maybe sponsored by Proactiv, so if they suggest using that, take it with a grain of salt.
Since you have blackheads, too, it might be a good idea to use something to open up and clean the pores. Here's what worked for me and it's cheap.
Take a large washcloth with warm water and leave it on your face until it starts cooling. Next, exfolliate. To do this, use a buff pad, natural sea sponge or small luffah pad to wash your face, using a mild soap. Rinse with cool water. Once a week, use a gentle scrub on your face, but not one that contains salt, like a salt scrub. You can make your own scrub with a couple of tablespoons of raw oatmeal mixed with liquid soap for an extremely mild scrub or mix a couple of tablespoons of sugar mixed with a few squirts of liquid soap for a heavier duty one. You can also buy scrubs in the grocery store that work really well.
Even though these are called scrubs - don't scrub! Treat your face gently. This should help clean out the blackheads. Before you try this, though, speak with your dermatologist!!!!!! I would hate for my suggestion to be something that would be bad for your skin and this has the potential to maybe irritate your skin.
Just hang in there. I know how you feel. And remember that, as soon as you are finished growing and your hormones settle down your face will clear up. Don't be afraid to tell your dermatologist if you are unhappy with a lack of progress. I tried all kinds of different things before they found one that really worked for me.
Oh, I also found that being out in the sun helped my skin clear up. It might be helpful if you keep track of when your face breaks out the most.
Good luck!
